Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja is ruled out of the fourth Test against Australia in Brisbane. He had a blow on his left thumb while batting on Day 3 of the Sydney Test. Since then he did not take any further part in the game. The scans later resulted showed that he had dislocated his left thumb. He will now consult a hand specialist in Sydney before flying back home for further treatment at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru.

BCCI Secretary Jay Shah stated the same in a statement. Jadeja thus joins a long list of Indian cricketers who have been ruled out of the ongoing Test series due to injury. This just adds to the injury concerns of the Indian team heading into the fourth Test.

Meanwhile, as per reports from a BCCI official, Shardul Thakur is likely to replace Ravindra Jadeja for the fourth Test in Brisbane. Kuldeep Yadav is another option that the selectors can think about giving a chance. He is also a like for like replacement for the left-arm spinner.

However, it seems like Shardul Thakur is the potential replacement for Jadeja. On the other hand, Hanuma Vihari has also been ruled out of the final Test in Brisbane. The BCCI is looking to include Wriddhiman Saha as a specialist wicketkeeper and play Rishabh Pant as a specialist batsman. They also have an option in Mayank Agarwal who has not been impressive so far in the Test series.

Jadeja was hit by s short-pitched delivery from Mitchell Starc which hit him right on his left-thumb. He looked in immense pain as the physio walked out in the middle. After a close look from the physio personnel, his left thumb was taped and he carried on with his batting. Meanwhile, Ravindra Jadeja was looking forward to coming out to the field and also made a couple of throws before pulling out.

Jadeja was productive with both bat and ball for the team throughout the Test series. His injury is a body blow for the Indian team who are already grappled with injuries. They will have some serious selection issues as they look to pick the strongest possible XI for the final Test.
