Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja has undergone successful surgery on his dislocated left thumb. He is set to be out for action for a few weeks before making a comeback in the upcoming series against England at home. He had a blow on his left thumb while batting on Day 3 of the Sydney Test. Since then he did not take any further part in the game.
The scans later resulted showed that he had dislocated his left thumb. After the successful surgery, he will return back to India and undergo further treatment at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru. Ravindra Jadeja is likely to miss the first part of the England series scheduled to commence in February.

Soon after the surgery, the all-rounder shared a photograph for his fans on the social media platform and promised to return with a bang.

The news of Jadeja being ruled out of the Brisbane Test was shared by the BCCI via a statement. “Ravindra Jadeja suffered a blow to his left thumb while batting on Day 3 of the third Border-Gavaskar Test that concluded on Monday,” the BCCI’s statement read.

Ravindra Jadeja played a key role with the ball in the Australian first innings taking four wickets and ran out Steve Smith on 131. He also scored 28 runs off 37 balls as India were bowled out for 244 in reply to Australia’s 338 in the first innings. It was during this knock that he copped up the injury and did not take any further part in the Test match.
Jadeja thus joins a long list of Indian cricketers who have been ruled out of the ongoing Test series due to injury. This just adds to the injury concerns of the Indian team heading into the fourth Test. Meanwhile, as per reports from a BCCI official, Shardul Thakur is likely to replace Ravindra Jadeja for the fourth Test in Brisbane.
Kuldeep Yadav is another option that the selectors can think about giving a chance. He is also a like for like replacement for the left-arm spinner. On the other hand, Hanuma Vihari has also been ruled out of the final Test in Brisbane as well.
