RCB Plans To Repay RCB Unbox Streaming Fees To Fans Due To Technical Issues Caused By Overwhelming Demand

The Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) hosted their annual Unbox event with enthusiasm at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium on March 19. The event showcased performances by prominent figures and included the presentation of the 2024 Women’s Premier League (WPL) trophy by their women’s team.

While attendees at the venue enjoyed the festivities, including the jersey reveal and the franchise name change, viewers at home missed out on the excitement despite the option to stream the event on RCB’s website and app for a fee of INR 99.

The supporters who made the payment were unable to attend the event as the stream appeared to malfunction due to ‘overwhelming demand’. Consequently, the franchise had no choice but to broadcast the event live on their YouTube channel, leaving fans confused about the fee they had paid for access.

On Thursday, March 21, the franchise management issued a statement assuring fans that the fee would be reimbursed in the near future. The statement also expressed apologies for the inconvenience caused to fans and pledged to ensure a smoother experience in the future.

“It must reflect in your payment account within 7 business days. Thank you for your cooperation and we will work hard to make your next experience seamless,” the franchise said in a statement shared on X.

Over the years, the Unbox Event has become increasingly popular, serving as the kickoff for the franchise’s campaign. RCB’s loyal fanbase consistently shows up in large numbers for the event, transforming it into a spectacle.
