Players from Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) are wearing black armbands during their IPL 2025 match at the Chinnaswamy Stadium on Thursday, April 24. The gesture is a mark of solidarity with the victims of the horrific terror attack on tourists in Pahalgam, Kashmir, on Tuesday, April 22.
A similar tribute was seen during the Mumbai Indians vs Sunrisers Hyderabad match in Hyderabad on Wednesday, where players wore black armbands and observed a moment of silence. The attack in Pahalgam claimed 28 lives and left several others injured.
RCB announced via their official X account (formerly Twitter) that the team would be wearing black armbands during their match against RR. Their post stated:
“Not forgotten. Never will. Our thoughts and prayers are with the innocent lives lost in the tragic terror attack in Pahalgam, Kashmir. We stand in solidarity with their families and loved ones during this difficult time. As a mark of respect, we are wearing 𝐁𝐥𝐚𝐜𝐤 𝐀𝐫𝐦𝐛𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐬 in today’s match. 🙏“

Rajasthan Royals won the toss and chose to bat first
Royal Challengers Bengaluru faced another toss defeat at the Chinnaswamy Stadium, with RR captain Riyan Parag opting to bowl first. Following the toss, RCB skipper Rajat Patidar shared his thoughts in a statement to ESPNCricinfo:
“We would have bowled first, too. We have to select good shots. This year, the wicket has not been as flat as it used to be. We have to choose our shots well as it is a two-paced wicket. Same team.”
After being put in to bat, RCB reached 109/1 in 12 overs at the time of writing, with Virat Kohli bringing up his half-century and Devdutt Padikkal providing steady support. The team is still searching for its first home victory in the current IPL season.
