England pacer Jofra Archer is all set to come back in the 2023 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) from injury. He is currently training and completing his rehabilitation in UAE along with the England Lions.
Archer last played a competitive game in July 2021 as well as has gone through several elbow surgeries. He was further kept back on the sidelines after he sustained a stress fracture to his back. A spokesman from the England Wales Cricket Board told Cricbuzz:
“He is currently in the UAE with the England Lions team and is continuing his rehab. He is making excellent progress and the view is that he will be looking to play competitively again during the early part of 2023.”
This news of his comeback will surely create a buzz amongst the Mumbai Indians fans who desperately want him to wear the blue jersey.

Archer was bought by Mumbai Indians in last year’s mega auction for a sum of INR 8 crores. He missed out on the previous IPL season due to his injury but will hopefully regain full fitness by the start of the IPL.
Jasprit Bumrah and Jofra Archer will form a lethal bowling attack. Both of them are crucial for the franchise at the start as well as the end of an innings. Mumbai has also added Jason Behrendoff who has been traded from Royal Challengers Bangalore to their list of pacers.
Jofra Archer will relish the opportunity to play at the Wankhede Stadium given the pace and bounce the pitch has to offer. His addition to the English pace attack will significantly improve it and look more lethal and potent in his presence. They desperately need a bowler
The English Board is keeping a close track of his recovery as they hope for his availability in defending their ODI world cup next year in India.
