“I Took Up Sweeping And Mopping Jobs” – Rinku Singh Opens Up About His Financial Struggles

Rinku Singh is a well-known name now, but his rise to success was far from easy. In a 2023 video shared by KKR on social media, the left-handed batter revealed that he was once offered a sweeping and mopping job at a coaching center.

He admitted that he wasn’t fond of the work and ultimately turned it down. Rinku shared that he believed in his own potential and decided to focus on improving his cricket skills.

Rinku Stated: “When I was just starting out and had yet to play proper cricket, I was asked to join my brother for a job. I got a job of sweeping and mopping in a coaching centre. I refused because I didn’t like the work.”

“I told everyone that I will play cricket and I stuck with it. I wasn’t very well qualified either but I always believed cricket would take me places. I didn’t have any other option so I put all my focus on cricket. I worked really hard and all those efforts are bearing fruit now.”

Rinku Singh was KKR’s top retention choice ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction. The defending champions also kept Sunil Narine (₹12 crore), Andre Russell (₹12 crore), Varun Chakravarthy (₹12 crore), Harshit Rana (₹4 crore), and Ramandeep Singh (₹4 crore).
