Rishabh Pant against the run of play was run-out when he tried attempting a third run after an initial call of yes by captain Virat Kohli. Both Kohli and Pant were building an important partnership for India after they lost 3 quick wickets. Pant was all set and was looking to accelerate before he attempted a suicidal run which cost him his wicket.
After running 2 quick singles wicket-keeper Jos Buttler was unable to collect the throw cleanly and Kohli sensed an opportunity to steal a third run. However, Pant had overrun and the third single was never on. Nevertheless, he trusted Kohli’s call and looked to sneak in another run which proved to a game-changer. Pant was miles out of his crease and walked back to the pavilion with utter disappointment as he wasn’t able to capitalize his start.

Rishabh Pant scored 25 runs in 20 deliveries and his knock included 3 boundaries. It could have been an impactful knock if he had not gone for a run that was impossible to complete.
