Indian wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant got to 100 catches in his Test career on day 3 of the Centurion Test. In the process, he broke MS Dhoni’s record who got to 100 catches in the format in 36 matches. Pant took 10 matches less than Dhoni to get to that feat. India meanwhile ended the day on the driver’s seat on a day that saw 18 wickets fall during the course of the day.
Rishabh Pant took four catches in the South African first innings and the catch to dismiss Kagiso Rabada was the 100th of his Test career. South Africa were bowled out for 197 in their first innings in response to India’s 327.

Mohammed Shami took his sixth five-wicket haul in Test cricket (5/44) after Lungi Ngidi took 6 for 71 during India’s first innings. The batting from both teams was below par on day three as the bowlers took centre stage.
All the 18 wickets on the day were shared by the pacers from both teams as the spinners bowled a few overs in between.
India at the end of the day lead by 146 with them being 16/1 at stumps. Addressing the post-match presser, Shami said that India would ideally look for a target between 350-400.
