Rishabh Pant Highlights The Importance Of MS Dhoni In His Career

The young wicket-keeper batsman from Delhi; Rishabh Pant is looked upon as the successor of MS Dhoni. Although he has carved a name for himself in the international cricket but is far from cementing his place in the Indian side. Pant is desperate to make the opportunities count and recently highlighted the importance of Dhoni and former Australia wicket-keeper Adam Gilchrist in his career.

Amid the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has postponed the Indian Premier League (IPL). With the mega event deferred and cricketers locked inside their house, the franchises are giving the fans an opportunity to engage with their favourite stars on social media.

Recently, Rishabh Pant came on Instagram live for a chat from Delhi Capitals official handle where he spoke about the importance of Adam Gilchrist and MS Dhoni. The 22-year-old admitted that he grew up watching the former Aussie but later started following the former India skipper.

“It fills me with pride, sometimes, looking at where my cricketing journey started. One thing I have learnt is that we need to learn from our idols and not just copy them. Create your own identity and keep the focus. I was a huge fan of Adam Gilchrist but since the game constantly evolves, I started following MS Dhoni as well. He brought innovations to the game… Later on, in my career, I was helped a lot by Yuvraj Singh,” Pant said on Instagram live.

Meanwhile, speaking about his career, Rishabh Pant witnessed a dip in form in the last few months. Subsequently, he lost his place in the limited-overs to KL Rahul, who has grabbed the opportunity with both hands. The Delhi lad played the New Zealand Tests ahead of Wriddhiman Saha but failed to make any mark.

The next few months when cricket resumes will be very crucial for Pant, who will be looking to reclaim his berth in all the three formats.
