Rishabh Pant achieved multiple milestones on Day 2 of the fourth Test against England at Old Trafford, Manchester, on Thursday, July 24. By scoring his ninth half-century in England, he surpassed former India captain MS Dhoni, who had eight, to become the Indian wicketkeeper-batter with the most fifties in the country.
This knock also marked his fifth 50-plus score in the ongoing Test series, helping him break the previous Indian record for most half-centuries in a single Test series, earlier jointly held by Dhoni (against Australia and England) and Farokh Engineer (against England).
Additionally, Pant matched Virender Sehwag’s record of 90 sixes in Test cricket — the most by an Indian in the format.
