Ritika Sajdeh Posts A Salute Emoji On Instagram After Aaron Finch Defends Rohit Sharma

Rohit Sharma‘s wife, Ritika Sajdeh, has responded to reports suggesting that the Indian captain may miss the first Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Perth due to personal reasons. In reply to an Instagram post with Aaron Finch’s quote defending Rohit, Sajdeh tagged the former Australian captain and shared a salute emoji.

Recent media reports have speculated that Rohit could miss the first Test for the birth of his second child. The opening match of the five-game series is set to begin on November 22.

In response to these reports, cricket legend and former captain Sunil Gavaskar stated that India should consider appointing a new captain for the Australia series if Rohit is unavailable from the start, speaking to Sports Tak:

“We have been reading that Rohit Sharma will not play in the first Test, perhaps he will not play in the second as well. If this is the case, then I say that, right now, the Indian selection committee should say that ‘if you have to rest, rest, if there are personal reasons then look at them.”

“But if you are missing two-thirds of the matches then you should go for this tour only as a player. We will make the vice-captain the captain of this tour’.”

However, former Australian captain Finch disagreed with Gavaskar’s opinion. Speaking to ESPNcricinfo, he stated:

“I disagree with Sunny on that totally. Rohit Sharma is the captain of the Indian cricket team. If you need to stay at home because your wife is having a baby… that’s such a beautiful moment… and you take all the time that you need in that regard.”

Under Rohit’s leadership, India recently endured a humiliating 3-0 whitewash by New Zealand in a three-match Test series at home. The 37-year-old also faced difficulties with the bat, scoring just 91 runs in six innings at an average of 15.17.

Rohit Sharma will travel to Australia, but his Perth Test participation is uncertain: Reports

According to recent reports, Rohit is expected to travel to Australia with the squad, but his availability for the first Test in Perth on November 22 is still uncertain. India Today cited a source stating:

“He is travelling but his participation in the 1st Test is yet not confirmed. Will see what happens next anything in regards to this. His availability is subject to his personal matter.”

India must defeat Australia 4-0 to secure a spot in the World Test Championship final, without relying on other results.
