Former England batsman Rob Key has been hospitalised after the batsman suffered a mini-stroke over the weekend. The cricketer, who represent Kent in the County cricket revealed the news in an Instagram post on May 18 (Monday).
Key has represented England in 15 Test matches between 2002 and 2005. The 41-year-old also played 5 ODIs and one T20Is. His top score in red-ball cricket was 221 against West Indies at the Lord’s which also happened to be his maiden hundred in the format. Rob Key’s last international appearance was in the one-off T20I against the Netherlands in 2005.

However, Key was the heart of Kent’s batting for a period which lasted more than 17 years. In 299 first-class games, the top-order batsman amassed 19419 runs including 54 centuries. He also captained Kent for nine seasons in two separate spells, overseeing the county’s promotion as Division Two County Champions in 2010.
The cricketer, who currently works as a commentator for Sky Sports suffered a surprise attack over the weekend. He was rushed to the hospital where he is recovering. Rob Key took to social media site Instagram to share the news with the fans and followers.

“Long weekend. Turns out I’ve had a mini stroke. Thanks to everyone at the kent and Canterbury hospital especially Charlie And dr baht. Now got to eat food with no flavour and take pills #triffic,” Rob Key wrote in an Instagram post along with a picture from the hospital bed.
