A stunning 212 from Rohit Sharma has certainly put India on the driver’s seat against South Africa. Having won the series already, Rohit and Rahane led the carnage taking the total to 497/9 in the first innings.
Rohit, who wasn’t able to create an impact in the second Test was on his prime form both the days. His innings included 28 boundaries and half a dozen huge sixes. What’s interesting here is that he brought up both his 100 and 200 with a six.
Certainly, his marathon knock helped him to amass a few records to his name. Rohit’s home average now accounts for 99.84 which is higher than Don Bradman(Minimum 10 innings). Also, he has now hit the maximum sixes in a Test series (19). He leads the batting charts comfortably with 529 runs in the series with three centuries.
On the other hand, Ajinkya Rahane also scored his 11th century at Tests with a quality 115 to his bag. Cameos from Jadeja and Umesh helped India to reach a comfortable score.
The South African trouble continues
Troubles continue for the Protea batsmen as they weren’t able to provide the much-required start. The scoreboard now reads 9/2 as the openers are back to the hut now. Quinton de Kock couldn’t prove his worth as an opener as he was sent back to the hut by Umesh.
Will India come out on the top in the third test? Will the side bag another 40 points to gain a lot of strength in the ICC Test Championship table? Lot of answers to be answered in upcoming days.
