It was in the first One Day International (ODI) match between India and Sri Lanka at R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on Friday, August 2, that Rohit Sharma featured again in competitive cricket after a one-month break.

The right-handed batter scored 58 runs and looked in good form to lead the Indians in the batting department. The captain of India got struck on 47 balls when he was at the crease and played a notable three sixes and seven fours. He failed to help India clinch the match and get a 1-0 lead in the series.

Besides, the Indian player scored the second-highest individual total by an opener in international cricket and broke Morgan’s record for the most sixes scored by a captain in the 1st One day international.

Rohit Sharma Set To Break Rahul Dravid’s Record In The Second ODI:

Rohit Sharma may ultimately emerge as India’s fourth-highest scorer in One-Day Internationals (ODIs) by overtaking Rahul Dravid in the second game. If Rohit manages to score just two more runs, he’ll rise to number four among the greats. So far, Rohit has scored 10,767 runs off 263 games at an impressive average of 49.16, with 31 centuries and 56 half-centuries.

A distant second is Sourav Ganguly who has a total of 11,221 runs while Virat Kohli is third with his tally being 13,872 runs. Fourth on this list is Rahul Dravid who has captured 10,768 runs for India all in One Day Internationals.

Unlike Rohit Sharma who has played 263 ODIs so far where he amassed an overall sum of 10,767 runs while Dravid finished his career scoring 10,768 in 340 matches.

However, Sachin Tendulkar remains the highest scorer ever for India in One-Day Internationals. He took part in 463 encounters during his 23-year-long ODI career and made a total number of 18,426 runs.

Virat Kohli comes behind him having made 13,872 more than Sourav Ganguly whose score stands at 11,221 behind Tendulkar’s highest figure. If Rohit scores seven on Sunday he will also surpass MS Dhoni’s One-Day Internationals tally of 10,773 runs.
