As per some social media posts, India cricket team captain Rohit Sharma and his wife, Ritika Sajdeh, welcomed their second child, a baby boy, on Friday, November 15. The couple, already parents to their daughter Samaira (born in 2018), has yet to officially announce the happy news to their fans.

Rohit took a paternity break to be with Ritika for the birth, missing training in Australia ahead of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. The couple kept Ritika’s pregnancy private until recently, amid uncertainty about Rohit’s availability for the first Test in Perth.

As Rohit and Ritika celebrate their new arrival, it remains uncertain whether the Indian captain will join the team in time for the series opener. While his absence could present challenges for Team India, the joy of welcoming a new child takes precedence.

Fans and teammates will be watching to see how Rohit balances his family responsibilities with his cricketing duties during this important series.

As a result, the India captain chose to stay with his family for this special moment, which may cause him to miss the first Test. Despite being away from the team, the opening batter is ensuring he stays match-ready, as he was seen practicing in the nets in Mumbai.

In a press conference before India’s departure, head coach Gautam Gambhir mentioned that Rohit Sharma’s availability for the first Test was still uncertain, but he remained optimistic about his participation.

It has also been reported that Rohit Sharma could still make it to Perth for the first Test, provided things go smoothly at home. The BCCI is taking steps to ensure everything is in place, awaiting a last-minute confirmation from the India captain.

Rohit’s underperformance in Test cricket

The news of Rohit Sharma missing the first Test sparked controversy, with former India cricketer Sunil Gavaskar suggesting that Rohit should step down as captain for the rest of the series if he’s unavailable for the opening match.

In contrast, former Australian cricketer Aaron Finch defended Rohit, highlighting the importance of prioritizing family during such a special occasion. Finch’s supportive remarks gained added attention when Ritika Sajdeh liked a post featuring his comment.
