Rohit Sharma is declared fit for the last 2 Test against Australia after he passed his fitness test at the National Cricket Academy (NCA). The star Indian batsman opted not to travel with the Indian side after the conclusion of IPL to nurse his hamstring injury.

Rohit had reached the NCA on November 17 and since then has been working extremely hard on his fitness. The medical team of BCCI was continuously monitoring the progress of Rohit at NCA and he was set to undergo a fitness test today. Now according to a report by ANI, Rohit has cleared the fitness test and is now ready for international cricket again.

Rohit Sharma Clears Fitness Test

The 33-year-old is now soon expected to fly for Australia to feature in the last 2 Tests of the series. This is a massive positive as team India needed the experience of Rohit in Virat Kohli’s absence. Rohit will complete his mandatory quarantine in Australia after which he can resume his outdoor training and prepare for the Test series.

“He has passed the fitness test and the future course of action will be decided by the BCCI and the selection committee”, a BCCI source told ANI.

Meanwhile, there was a lot of confusion between BCCI and Rohit concerning his injury. Even the Indian captain admitted that there was a lot of confusion and he expected Rohit to travel with the Indian team to Australia. Eventually, it was decided that Rohit will undergo a fitness test at NCA on December 11 which will decide whether or not he will feature in the last 2 Tests.

“The BCCI Medical Team has been monitoring Rohit Sharma’s fitness and has briefed All-India Senior Selection Committee on the same. In consultation with Sharma, it has been decided to rest him for the ODIs and T20Is in Australia to regain full fitness and he has been included in India’s Test squad for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy”, the BCCI had said in their statement.
