The long wait is over for India captain Rohit Sharma as he gets ready to go back into action this week when the three-match ODI series with Sri Lanka starts. The two teams are hoeing it out in a three-match T20I series now.
Rohit Sharma hasn’t played any competitive game since he led India to T20 World Cup glory last month. Under his captaincy, India won T20 World Cup after a long gap of 17 years. It also ended their 11-year wait for an ICC trophy. The Men in Blue beat South Africa by 7 runs in a thrilling final to win the tournament.
India, in this competition, marked its place in the history books because they were the only team to ever win a T20 World Cup without loss. Rohit Sharma was at the helm of affairs leading the group and ended up as India’s number one run-maker for the tournament. He was only outdone by Afghanistan’s Rahmanullah Gurbaz when it came to the higher ranks.
Rohit Sharma did well with the bat in the T20 World Cup
Rohit Sharma has made a total of 257 runs in his 8 matches, including three fifties. According to reports, Rohit revealed that he was quitting the shortest version of the game after the final against South Africa. Unsurprisingly, this makes fans very restless for this popular batsman to come back.
Rohit Sharma was trolled by several fans on social media over some allegedly edited pictures before he returned to the field again. Over and over again, the Indian batting stalwart has fallen prey to trolls for his looks and once more, he is stuck in a similar situation.
A few eagle-eyed users were quick to point out that in the image, which Rohit Sharma shared, was edited so as to hide his tummy. Recently, a picture of him during training session was uploaded by Rohit Sharma on Instagram and on the other hand, BCCI also posted the same photo on social media.

On the other hand, as Rohit is returning in this week to ODIs, he will aim at running from the very first moment. After all, he didn’t play any ODI since the World Cup final match held in November last year. This series against Sri Lanka will also be India’s very first assignment for the year in ODIs.
