Rohit Sharma Returned To Mumbai From UAE Because His Father Had Contracted COVID-19 – Reports

The recent debate over Rohit Sharma’s participation in India vs Australia series has another addition of a twist as renowned journalist Boria Majumder in a recent video stated that Rohit Sharma decided to return home from UAE instead of travelling to Australia with the rest of the squad members because his father had contracted the coronavirus disease.

After leading Mumbai Indians to a record fifth IPL title in UAE, Rohit got back and later went to the National Cricket Academy in Bangalore for the rehabilitation of his hamstring injury which he had endured during IPL 2020.

Nonetheless, things got somewhat confusing as Rohit Sharma, who was recovering from the hamstring injury wasn’t named in any of the three squads for Australia but further went on to feature for the Mumbai Indians franchise in the playoffs, eventually leading them to the title for the second consecutive year.

‘Rohit Sharma Returned To Mumbai Because His Father Contracted COVID

On 24th November, BCCI confirmed to the general public that both Rohit and Ishant Sharma have been ruled out of the first two tests as it was unlikely that they both feature in the first two tests given the strict quarantine regulations in place in Australia.

Now in a recent video by renowned journalist Boria Majumdar, he has revealed that Rohit Sharma got back to Mumbai from UAE to see his father who had contracted the COVID19.

“Rohit came to Mumbai with the Mumbai Indians because his father had Covid. That is the reality which is why he had to go back to Bombay. After that, if he did not want to play the red-ball series, there was no reason for him to travel to the NCA and he could have easily stayed back in Bombay with Ritika and family and enjoyed the fruits of success. So there’s absolutely no reason to say that Rohit did not want to play the red-ball series,” Boria said in a video.
