Rohit Sharma was out for a first-ball duck against Delhi Capitals in Qualifier 1 of IPL 2020. His poor form continues after his return from a hamstring injury. He scored 4 against SRH in the last league game followed by a duck in the first qualifier. In the process, Rohit registered an unwanted record, one with which he will not be happy at all. He was found plumb in front as the delivery from R Ashwin hit him on the back leg.
Rohit Sharma Registers Unique Record In IPL 2020 Qualifier 1
With the dismissal, Rohit equalled the unwanted record of most ducks by a batsman in the history of IPL. The MI skipper did not face the first 8 balls of their innings as Quinton De Kock attacked right from the start. When he faced his first delivery from Ashwin, he was taken by surprise as he failed to gauge the length of the ball. It was the 13th time that Rohit was dismissed on a duck in IPL. RCB batsman Parthiv Patel and CSK spinner Harbhajan Singh are the other players who have bagged 13 ducks in the competition. The three players are now jointly on top of the list of players with most ducks in IPL history.

Meanwhile, Rohit Sharma‘s average in the IPL playoffs is not something he will be proud of. In 19 innings he has scored 229 runs at an average of 12.72, striking at 101 which includes three ducks.
The MI skipper lauded the efforts of De Kock and Suryakumar Yadav for the way they batted in this game and throughout the season. Both are among the highest run-getters for their team having scored over 450 runs in this season so far. Both will get their opportunity in the final next Tuesday.
“I guess this is the best performance. The way de Kock and SKY took the momentum after I got out early was good to see. Perfect result for us. We never had a target in mind. We are a different team and we play differently. We just wanted to have a good powerplay and then take it from there. We knew we have the power to accelerate at the end. Ishan has been in just great form, so we just wanted him to be really positive after the second time-out” Rohit concluded saying.
