Former India T20 skipper Rohit Sharma recently shared a funny memory involving Suryakumar Yadav during the 2024 T20 World Cup semifinal against England. Speaking in an exclusive interview titled ‘Champions Wali Feeling Phir Se’ on JioHotstar, Rohit recalled the lighthearted moment.
During the chat, he was shown a clip of his on-field conversation with Suryakumar while they were batting together, specifically during Liam Livingstone’s bowling spell in that high-stakes semifinal.
“Dono maarenge agar marna hai toh. Mere mind mai hai woh cheez, lekin agar idhar idhar milega ball toh dunga,” Rohit said.
“I told him if the ball came at my face, I’d go for the hit. Surya said to take it easy, he would hit. I said that won’t work—either both go for it or neither. It can’t be one hitting and the other playing safe. If the ball lands in our strong areas, we’ll both go for it. That’s what I was trying to explain. I had it in mind, but if it came to him, I’d let him take it.”
