Rohit Sharma Speaks About Suryakumar Yadav Or Shubman Gill For First Test

Rohit Sharma selection dilema ahead of first Test

The much-awaited Test series between India and Australia is slated to start on 9 February at VCA Stadium, Nagpur. It promises to be an exciting series as the pitch has been talking about the town.

Rohit Sharma will look to lead India to a series win against mighty Australians and confirm their place in the finals of the ICC Test Championship finals for 2021/23. Rohit Sharma will open the innings for Team India but the question remains who will open with him? It will be either Shubman Gill or KL Rahul.

Shubman Gill has been in sensational form of late during the recent ODI series against Sri Lanka and New Zealand while KL Rahul has been with the team for a long time and will return to the squad after a break.

The Indian team will miss the service of Shreyas Iyer who has been ruled out by a back injury. If KL Rahul gets a chance with Rohit, Shubman Gill might miss out due to Surya Kumar Yadav in superb form.

Rohit Sharma in a press conference said that making choice between Shubman Gill and Surya Kumar Yadav will be very tough. “Shubman has been in supreme form, a lot of big hundreds, on the other hand, SKY has shown what he brings to the range, but we have not decided whom we will go with,” said Sharma at the press conference.

Rohit Sharma hopes to have a good show

Rishabh Pant who survived the serious accident and is slowly recovering will be a huge miss as he played a key role in helping Team India register a historic series win over Australia in the 2020-21 Border Gavaskar Test series. KS Bharat would be an ideal option as a better keeper.

It was a remarkable effort by Team India as they missed the services of key players including Bumrah, Ashwin, Jadeja and other key players, Gill, Pant, Sundar, and Shardul Thakur stunned the Australian defeating them in Gabba after a gap of 32 years.

It promises to be an exciting series as the top two teams will fight for the trophy. The condition in Nagpur is likely to help the spin bowlers. India has played 6 Test matches in Nagpur winning 4, losing 1, and drawing 1.
