As per reports, Team India’s regular captain Rohit Sharma has been ruled out of the second Test against Bangladesh starting in Mirpur on December 22 as well. Rohit, who earlier missed the first Test in Chattogram, will no longer be travelling to Dhaka as well. And, vice-captain KL Rahul will continue to lead the team in his absence in the second and final Test of the series as well. Meanwhile, India are currently leading the series 1-0.

However, the news of Rohit’s unavailability came on Monday (December 19) after it was found that his thumb, which was injured during the second ODI of the ongoing tour, has not fully healed yet. He seems to be suffering from a little bit of stiffness too. Considering the important series ahead for the team, the board as well as the team management have decided to give him rest to heal the injury properly.

However, it is learnt that Rohit Sharma, who is currently in Mumbai, would have managed to bat through the Test but the risk factor remained the same as well while fielding. The medical team and also the team management felt that the injury could get serious on the field if he gets hurt once again in the same place. Notably, he will be available for the white ball series (three T20Is and three ODIs) against Sri Lanka starting on January 3 as well.
