Ruth Strauss Foundation Celebrates A Special Day At Lords This Ashes

The Sydney test during January of every year has its own importance. A certain day of the match at that venue is always celebrated like a festival as the entire stadium turns pink.

It marks the occasion of raising funds for the Jane McGrath Foundation which helps a lot of patients fighting Breast Cancer. In a similar manner, the entire cricketing fraternity is going to witness something similar this Ashes.

The Ruth Strauss foundation has said that the entire Lord”s will be turning red during the second day of second Specsavers Ashes test. Ruth Strauss, the wife of former English skipper was diagnosed with the rarest form of lung cancer. However, treatments didn”t yield fruitful results as she succumbed to death last year.

The Red day acts as a fundraiser for the foundation which will be ultimately invested in the research activities for lung cancer. Andrew Strauss also mentioned that psychological support will also be given to the patients battling the deadly disease with the money that will be raised.

The gentleman”s game has received further attention with this kind of Philanthropic gestures and it will be interesting how the home of cricket will look.

 

The Ashes commences on August 1 and the squads for the same are expected to be out in few days time. The Kangaroos will be looking forward to defending the title whereas the poms will try to utilize the home advantage to the fullest. The players will be sporting jerseys with numbers, one of its kind and the focus is lightly shifting to its design too.
