Delhi Capitals received a major blow when Ravichandran Ashwin injured himself during their first match of IPL 2020. The seasoned off-spinner after bowling just one over went off the field against Kings XI Punjab.

Ashwin dived to save a run off his bowling and hurt his shoulder. Since then Ashwin has not played any matches for the Delhi Capitals this season. Now, the bowling coach of DC Ryan Harris has talked about a possible return of Ashwin.

Ravichandran Ashwin Might Be Available For Selection – Ryan Harris

Ahead of Delhi Capitals encounter against Kolkata Knight Riders, Harris stated that Ravichandran Ashwin seemed ready to play when he was practising in the nets. Harris believes that the off-spinner might be available for tomorrow’s big match against KKR.

However, the franchise is still awaiting confirmation from the medical staff who are keeping a check on Ashwin’s progress.

He’s doing excellent. Ravichandran Ashwin had a really good session last night with the ball, bat and in the field. So he might be available for selection for tomorrow, but we are still waiting for our medical staff’s confirmation,” Ryan Harris said as quoted by ANI News.

No Panicking After Losing The Last Match

Meanwhile, Delhi Capitals were handed their first defeat by the Sunrisers Hyderabad in their previous match. The Shreyas Iyer side failed to chase down the target and lost by 15 runs. Harris added that DC will not press the panic button and look to execute their skills better in the upcoming matches.

“Coming off an unlucky loss, we just were not at our best for that game against the SunRisers Hyderabad. But, there’s no panicking by any means. When you look at it, a couple of balls during our bowling were a little bit of a miss and SRH probably ran better between the wickets, we didn’t run as well. But 15 runs is not a huge gap,” Harris added.

Furthermore, the Delhi Capitals will now face the in-form Kolkata Knight Riders in IPL 2020. The match will be contested at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium on 3rd October (Sunday).
