SA vs IND: “Who Doesn’t Like A Burger”- Lungi Ngidi’s Response To Nandre Burger’s 7-Wicket Haul On Test Debut vs India

Lungi Ngidi humorously cheered for his teammate Nandre Burger following an exceptional Test debut against Team India at SuperSport Park in Centurion.

Nandre Burger marked his international cricket debut earlier this month during the T20I series against the Indian team on the same tour. Despite occasional expensive spells, the tall pacer garnered praise for his skill in generating pace and movement with the ball.

Subsequently, he featured in the ODI series before receiving his first Test cap on Boxing Day. Burger made an immediate impact by taking the wickets of Yashavi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill in the initial hour of the Test.

Additionally, he dismissed the centurion KL Rahul on day 2, concluding India’s innings at 245. Responding to India’s total, South Africa scored 408 in the second innings, establishing a lead of 163 runs.

Nandre Burger delivered an outstanding performance, securing a 4-wicket haul and contributing to India’s dismissal for only 131. With seven wickets in his debut Test, Burger provided excellent support to Kagiso Rabada in the bowling department.

Lungi Ngidi, sidelined from this Test due to a fitness concern, commended Nandre Burger’s display with a captivating anecdote on his Instagram account. Alongside the posted picture, Ngidi wrote:

“I mean who doesn’t like a burger.”

“Superb first spell by Rabada, and somebody like Nandre Burger coming to the fore”- Dean Elgar’s statement following the win against India in the Boxing Day Test

During the post-match presentation, South Africa’s acting captain, Dean Elgar, commended his bowling unit for their exceptional performance against Team India. He stated:

“Massive effort by bowlers to pick up 20 wickets. It was quite juicy. You have got to keep it nice and simple. You need fast bowlers and spinners, ultimately you need those 20 wickets to win the series.”

“Superb first spell by Rabada, and somebody like Nandre coming to the fore. That has been the shining light. Really a great team effort. Playing a two test series, you can’t win if you don’t win the first one.”

The next Test match between India and South Africa is scheduled to commence on January 3 in Cape Town.
