Sachin Tendulkar Breaks Silence On Shubman Gill’s Role As Captain In England Series

Indian cricket icon Sachin Tendulkar lauded Shubman Gill for his leadership in the ongoing five-match Test series against England. He remarked that the 25-year-old has appeared calm and composed on the field during the early phase of his captaincy. Tendulkar also praised Gill’s outstanding performances with the bat in the series so far.

He emphasized that a captain’s personal form significantly influences their decision-making on the field. These remarks were made during a conversation with JioHotstar ahead of the third Test, which began at Lord’s in London on Thursday, July 10. The ‘Master Blaster’ stated:

“He (Shubman Gill) has been good. He is very calm and composed, and I strongly believe that how the rest of the 10 players react to what he is doing, whatever decisions he has taken, they have been measured decisions, well thought of. His batting is complementing that as well because if a captain is in good form, it makes a huge difference on decision making.”

“You need to be in the right frame of mind to make those important calls. He has been batting brilliantly. Oppositions, normally, they look to find weak areas in your batting and technique. At this point of time, it’s been remarkable. Whatever I have seen, it has been special,” he added.

Team India Make One Change To Playing XI For 3rd Test Against England

England captain Ben Stokes won the toss and decided to bat first at Lord’s. Interestingly, Shubman Gill has still not won a toss in the series, with Stokes having the upper hand on all three occasions. The Indian team maintained their winning combination, making only one change to the playing XI.

Jasprit Bumrah, who was rested for the second Test, returned to the side in place of Prasidh Krishna. England also made just one change, with Jofra Archer coming in for Josh Tongue. Archer is making his Test comeback after four years.
