Sachin Tendulkar Deeply Impressed By Para Cricketer Amir Hussain’s Commitment, Pledges To Have A Jersey Named In His Honour

Amir Hussain leads the Para cricket squad of Jammu & Kashmir. Batting maestro Sachin Tendulkar recently commended Amir Hussain, a 34-year-old differently-abled cricketer from Jammu and Kashmir, who captains the Para cricket team in his region.

Amir, who lost both arms in an accident at the age of eight, has been playing professional cricket since 2013. Discovered by his teacher, he bats by holding the bat between his shoulder and neck and bowls using his feet.

A video of Amir, wearing Sachin Tendulkar’s jersey while batting and bowling in the nets caught the cricket legend’s attention. Tendulkar praised Amir’s love and dedication to the game and expressed a desire to meet him, promising to have a jersey with Amir’s name on it.

“And Amir has made the impossible possible. I am so touched watching this! Shows how much love and dedication he has for the game. Hope I get to meet him one day and get a jersey with his name. Well done for inspiring millions who are passionate about playing the sport,” wrote Sachin on his X handle.

India boasts a national blind cricket team, managed by the Cricket Association for the Blind in India (CABI), affiliated with the World Blind Cricket Council (WBCC). Engaging in One Day Internationals and T20 Internationals, the team has clinched significant titles, including T20 World Cup victories in 2012 and 2017, and ODI World Cup Championships in 2014 and 2018.

Sheetal Devi, a para archer, achieved the Arjuna Award

The government acknowledges our nation’s Para athletes, exemplified by the recent recognition of 17-year-old para archer Sheetal Devi. She received the Arjuna Award, India’s second-highest sporting honour, following her success at the Asian Para Games.

She made history by becoming the youngest World Archery Champion in the modern era, marking India’s inaugural senior world champion in her debut international season.
