Batting maestros Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli have been the heartbeat of great Indian cricket fanatics. While Tendulkar has entertained the crowds in the first decade of the 2000s, Kohli has taken the game to a whole new level in the next decade. Former India cricketer, Gautam Gambhir, who has played with both of them, has revealed his pick among the two.
Since Kohli’s meteoric rise in international cricket, the comparisons between him and Sachin Tendulkar have grown with each passing day. The India skipper is nearing Sachin Tendulkar’s maximum ODI hundred of 49 centuries. Virat Kohli, who has 43 to his name is more likely to break it soon and become the first batsman to register 50 ODI tons.

Gautam Gambhir picks the best among Kohli or Tendulkar?
There has been long-standing debate around the greatness of Kohli and Sachin Tendulkar. Recently, former India cricketer Gautam Gambhir threw his hat in the ring. The cricketer-turned-commentator, who is known for not mincing his words, explained why the little master is the better of the two batsmen.
“Sachin Tendulkar, because probably with one white ball and four fielders inside the circle, not five fielders outside, it will be Sachin Tendulkar for me. It’s difficult because Virat Kohli has done phenomenally well but I think the rules have changed as well, which has helped a lot of new batters. The new generation, with 2 new balls, no reverse swing, nothing for the finger spin, five fielders inside for the 50 overs, probably that makes batting much easier,” Gambhir said during Star Sports’ show Cricket Connected.

Notably, many former cricketers who have plied trade with Sachin Tendulkar picked the latter as the best. They resonated that the former India batsman has played against some of the deadliest bowlers of the world when the competition was even between the batters and the bowlers.
