England pacer Stuart Broad had a forgettable outing on day two of the fifth Test match against India at the Edgbaston in Birmingham. He broke Robin Peterson’s unwanted record during the course of the first inning. Board turned out to be very expensive against Jasprit Bumrah, as he conceded 35 runs in an over. Former South Africa cricketer Robin Peterson posted a cheeky tweet after the English bowler broke his record.

Stuard Broad came on to bowl the eighty-fourth over of the first innings. India was 377 for nine wickets down at that moment, with Bumrah at the crease. The Indian skipper slammed a four off the first delivery. It was followed by a wide delivery racing towards the boundary. Bumrah slammed a six, four, four, four, and then a six in the over. He finished it off with a single, to accumulate 35 runs off the over.

Back in 2003, Robin Peterson had conceded 28 runs off his over bowling against Brian Lara. Reacting to his record being broken by Stuart Broad, Peterson tweeted, “Sad to lose my record today oh well, records are made to be broken I guess. Onto the next one.”

Stuard Broad finished the innings with bowling figures of 1/89 in eighteen overs, with an economy rate of 4.9. On the other hand, Jasprit Bumrah stayed unbeaten on 31 runs off 16 deliveries, including four boundaries and a couple of sixes. India managed 416 runs in their first innings.

England loses both the openers as Jasprit Bumrah strikes

England has lost both their opening batters, Alex Lees and Zak Crawley early in the innings. Jasprit Bumrah dismissed Less in the third over with a light delivery directed at the stumps. The ball sneaked through Lees’ defense and rattled the stumps.

The Indian skipper made Zak Crawley his second victim. The England opener played a loose drive off Jasprit Bumrah in the fifth over. Shubman Gill took the catch in the slips cordon to send him back to the hut. Meanwhile, England is 31/2 with Ollie Pope and Joe Root at the crease.
