Sarfaraz Ahmed

When Pakistan announced the 29 member squad for the England tour, one name that surprised many was of Sarfaraz Ahmed. The former skipper made his way back with some stellar shows in domestic cricket. Recently, during a chat show, Sarfaraz chose the better cricketer between two greats – MS Dhoni and Adam Gilchrist.

Meanwhile, Sarfaraz copped a lot of criticisms for his poor show in the 2019 World Cup. But after grinding himself in the domestic circuit with consistent scores, Pakistan’s chief selector Misbah Ul Haq decided to give the former captain an opportunity to make a comeback in the side.

Sarfaraz picks better cricketer between Dhoni and Gilchrist

It will be a do-or-die situation for Sarfaraz Ahmed to cement his place in the team. Sarfaraz was recently asked to pick the better cricketer out of two of the most highly rated wicket keepers in the world – MS Dhoni and Adam Gilchrist.

MS Dhoni

Gilchrist has been Australia’s long term vice-captain and has been part of three World cup winning teams with over 900 dismissals in ODIs & tests. On the other hand, MS Dhoni has been the captain of the Indian team for over 10 years and has led India in three victorious ICC tournaments. He is the only captain in history to achieve this feat.

When asked who among Dhoni and Gilchrist is a better cricketer, Sarafraz said “MS Dhoni”.

MS Dhoni has over 800 dismissals to his name in all three formats of the game. He occupies the 3rd spot in the list of most dismissals headed by South Africa’s Mark Boucher, who has inflicted over 998 dismissals as a wicket-keeper.

India-Pakistan cricketers are good friends

Speaking further, Sarfaraz said that he has personally seen good friendship between the players of both countries. While India and Pakistan have not played bilateral cricket for long, he is hopeful of playing more games in future.

“Of course, there is this thing that people from India and Pakistan are quite passionate about cricket and have loads of love for the game. I have personally seen that there is a good friendship between Pakistani and Indian players,” Sarfaraz said.
