England’s young all-rounder Sam Curran has become the most expensive player in the Indian Premier League (IPL) after the Punjab Kings (PBKS) bought him for a whopping price of ₹18.5 crore following an intense bidding war with Mumbai Indians (MI) during the mini-auction on Friday, December 23 as well. Notably, CSK too tried their hand in the auction to get him back as well.

Eventually, Sam Curran also became the biggest buy in the history of the IPL auction, surpassing Chris Morris’ record when the Rajasthan Royals (RR) had bought him for ₹16.25 crore in the 2021 mini-auction. The youngster has also become the most expensive England player in the competition, overtaking Ben Stokes’ existing ₹14.25 crore price tag as well.

However, Sam Curran’s stakes increased after he had a stellar campaign for England at the T20 World Cup 2022, where he was also adjudged the Player of the Tournament after finishing with 13 wickets as well.
