Reports suggest that Steve Smith and Warner have been handed over a year ban from the CA. Cameron Bancroft has been banned for 9 months. This means that the duo will make a comeback just before the ICC CWC 2019 and the Ashes.
All three of them have been suspended for the fourth test in Johannesburg and the replacements were announced by James Sutherland in the press conference yesterday.
Steve Smith and David Warner will not be allowed to play in IPL 2018. Darren Lehmann will continue to be the coach of the national squad.
Here is how Twitter reacted to the ban:-

Cricket has been known as a gentleman's game. It's a game that I believe should be played in the purest form. Whatever has happened is unfortunate but the right decision has been taken to uphold the integrity of the game. Winning is important but the way you win is more important

So we're supposed to believe none of Australia's bowlers had ANY idea the ball was being deliberately tampered with by their own teammates to help them bowl better? #sandpapergate pic.twitter.com/Kt1lKkuiQL

Kids born now won't understand the difference between fixing and tampering.

Whoa…12 months ban for both Smith and Warner. Don’t see either of them playing in the IPL too. #SandpaperGate

So with the one year ban on Smith and Warner and also a 2 year captaincy ban on both, think India will be favourites when they tour Australia later this year. Wonder, who will captain Australia at the World Cup. Aaron Finch ?

With Smith and Warner banned for one year, India now have an even better chance of becoming the first Asian team to win a Test series in Australia. #BallTamperingRow

The truth, The full story, Accountability and Leadership- until the public get this Australian cricket is in deep shit!

I honestly do not believe any other country would have handed its captain and lead player a 12 month ban for attempted ball-tampering

NARCHEIDHI: Smith and Warner banned by CA for 12 months, the pair will come back just in time for the WC. Cam Bancroft banned for 9 months. One of the strongest reactions by a cricket board I have ever seen! Thoughts? #DavidWarner #BallTamperingRow #SteveSmith #CricketAustralia

Atherton (94) – fined $3,700
Younis (00) – 1 match
Dravid (04) – 50% match fee
Afridi (10) – 2 T20 matches
Du Plessis (13) – 50% match fee
Du Plessis (16) – 100% match fee
Smith, Warner (18) – 12 months (Bancroft 9 months)
And Lehman survives? I’m genuinely staggered.

Steven Smith & David Warner stepped down as captain of IPL teams. If SRH appoints Shikhar Dhawan as their captain, this will be the first time that all teams will have an Indian captain.

Even a criminal gets a second chance. Now too much is being made of the #SandpaperGate imbroglio . Yes, Punish the guilty but don't deny them their bread and butter . Yes it was premeditated cheating but we need to move on and give them a second chance. RT if you agree #2ndChance

Truth-Tampering followed by Ball-tampering. Kingpin Lehmann surviving this is travesty for Cricket world. #SandpaperGate

No firm statement on the no-objection certificates for the IPL. Will depend on the quantum of the verdict. But seems almost certain that Smith and Warner won't be at the IPL
— Harsha Bhogle (@bhogleharsha) March 27, 2018
David Warner and Steven Smith banned for one year by Cricket Australia. Cameron Bancroft banned for nine months.

Bans on Smith, Warner, Bancroft look harsh compared to what similar offences in the past have earned. Cricket Australia appear to have factored outrage in the country in this. But strong message going out to the entire cricket world: Enough is enough!
— Cricketwallah (@cricketwallah) March 28, 2018
Steven Smith & David Warner, formerly captain & vice-captain of Australia, have been banned for 12 months by CA for their roles in the pre-meditated plan to tamper with the ball in the Test against South Africa. Cameron Bancroft, has been banned for 9 months.
