Sanju Samson Scores The Second-Fastest T20I Century By An Indian

Sanju Samson and Suryakumar Yadav provided India with a record-breaking start in the third and final T20I against Bangladesh in Hyderabad. Samson delivered a remarkable performance, achieving the second-fastest century for India in T20Is.

Having faced criticism for his recent inconsistency and lackluster performances in the series, Samson took his frustrations out on the visitors today. After losing opener Abhishek Sharma for just 4 runs, Samson and captain Suryakumar Yadav took it upon themselves to lead India in a spectacular recovery.

The pair aggressively targeted the Bangladesh bowlers, hitting fours and sixes at will, as India set a record powerplay score of 82/1, their highest in T20Is. Samson unleashed a series of powerful half-volleys and pulls, relentlessly punishing the bowlers with boundaries.

On his 22nd ball, Samson launched a powerful shot over long-off for a six, bringing him to fifty, followed by an enthusiastic celebration. He now holds the record for the fastest T20I fifty for India against Bangladesh, achieving it in just 22 balls, surpassing Rohit Sharma’s previous record of 23 balls set in Rajkot in 2019.

Samson’s explosive innings set the record for the highest score by an Indian against Bangladesh in T20Is. He wasn’t finished yet, as he hit five massive sixes consecutively in the 10th over against Rishad Hossein, bringing his total to 92. As anticipated, he completed his century on his 40th ball with a boundary off Hasan.
