Sanju Samson To Return For Kerala In Second Round Of Ranji Trophy 2024-25

Indian cricketer Sanju Samson, currently part of India’s T20I squad for the series against Bangladesh, will be returning to represent Kerala in the second round of the Ranji Trophy 2024-25.

The T20I series is set to begin on October 6 in Gwalior, and while Samson was unavailable for the Kerala team in the first round due to national commitments, his return is confirmed for the second round. A source confirmed that the 29-year-old wicketkeeper-batter is expected to rejoin the Kerala team, where his participation will provide vital match practice ahead of India’s T20 series against South Africa in November.

Impressive Domestic Form of Sanju Samson

Samson has been in outstanding form in the domestic circuit, particularly in the recently concluded Duleep Trophy. His performance included a total of 196 runs across two games at an average of 49.00, paired with an excellent strike rate of 95.60.

This impressive run also featured a century in the final round against India B, which showcased his ability to perform under pressure. His consistent domestic displays make his return to the Kerala side eagerly anticipated, as he will look to continue his fine form in the Ranji Trophy.

Kerala to Face Karnataka in Round 2

In the second round of the Ranji Trophy, Kerala will face Karnataka in a Group C clash at the KSCA Three Ovals Stadium in Alur, starting October 18. This match holds importance for Samson, as his performance in the red-ball format could open doors for future international opportunities.

In his absence, Sachin Baby has been named captain for Kerala’s first-round fixture against Punjab, which will take place from October 11 at St. Xavier’s College Ground in Thiruvananthapuram.

Kerala’s squad for the opening round includes key players like Mohammed Azharuddeen, Vishnu Vinod, and Jalaj Saxena, and the team will be aiming for a strong start to their campaign.
