Sanju Samson’s No-look Maximum Leaves The Team Stunned

During the team’s training session, Sanju Samson stunned one and all with his no-look six. Samson was grinding it out in the training session ahead of the first T20I in Wellington along with Shreyas Iyer, Rishabh Pant, Ishan Kishan, Shubman Gill, Deepak Hooda and the stand-in captain, Hardik Pandya.

In the absence of players like Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul, the captaincy responsibility has been shouldered by Hardik Pandya. Pandya previously led the Indian team for the two-match series versus Ireland earlier this year.

The players were practising their six-hitting abilities. Shreyas Iyer and Sanju Samson’s no-look maximums stood out amongst all the players.  Samson struck two no-look sixes, one over the square leg and the other towards the extended leg region.

The players cheered by saying, “Shit hain yaar Sanju.” The BCCI shared the video of his no-look sixes:

Sanju Samson is likely to play a key part in the series

Samson could not make it to the world cup squad as Dinesh Karthik and Rishabh Pant were the first-choice wicketkeepers. With Karthik missing from the tour, Pant and Samson are the first-choice wicketkeepers in this three-match series.

With several senior players like Rohit Sharma, Kl Rahul and Virat Kohli missing out, Sanju Samson has an excellent opportunity to cement his place in the team. If he performs well in the series, he will be in contention for a spot in the 2024 T20 World Cup.

Samson has 16 T20IS scoring 296 runs at a strike rate of 135.16, and also includes a one-half century, which he achieved earlier this year versus Ireland in Dublin.

The first T20I is set to begin tomorrow, 18th November, at noon. The match will be broadcast on the Star Sports network and streamed online on Amazon prime video.
