Social media influencer Sapna Gill’s allegations against Indian cricketer Prithvi Shaw were “false and unfounded” stated the police. A police officer appeared before Mumbai’s Andheri Magistrate court on Monday presiding over the case, of Sapna Gill levelling molestation allegations against Prithvi Shaw.

Sapna Gill lodged a complaint before a magistrate court in Andheri, Mumbai, seeking registration of FIR under IPC sections 354 (Assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty.), 509 (Word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman) and 324 (Voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons or means) against the Mumbai batter and his friend Ashish Yadav. They were involved in a spat earlier this year in February.

On receiving her complaint, the magistrate directed the police to submit a report on the issue. Based on the statements of the staffers at the Pub and the CCTV footage, the police reported that Sapna Gill was seen breaking the windscreen of Prithvi Shaw’s car. It also stated that Shaw had not touched her inappropriately. It is mentioned that Sapna with her friend was on the first floor, where the Indian cricketer was present. Both parties were drinking at separate tables.

However, when Gill began taking a video, Prithvi Shaw objected. The staffers said that Sapna Gill’s friend began abusing Prithvi Shaw and also abused a staffer who had intervened. The bouncers of the Pub escorted both the woman and her friend out. After the police report was submitted, Sapna Gill’s lawyer also asked for the footage of the entire incident.

The case hearing was adjourned till June 28

After the police submitted its report, Gill’s lawyer Ali Kaashif Khan requested the court to allow him to present the footage of the alleged fight that Gill’s friend had recorded on his mobile. He also requested CCTV footage of the alleged incident that took place outside the pub. The court has ordered police to submit the footage and adjourned the matter till June 28.

Meanwhile, Prithvi Shaw has been selected to represent West Zone in the Duleep Trophy 2023. The West Zone has qualified directly to the semi-final, after winning the trophy last year. They will play the semi-final from July 5 to July 8 at the KSCA Ground in Alur.
