Team India’s pacer Arshdeep Singh once again showcased his bowling brilliance in the 2022 T20 World Cup. He has emerged as a match-winner for India in the T20 format over the last few months. The youngster powered the Indian team to a five-run over Bangladesh on Wednesday, November 2 at the Adelaide Oval. He defended 20 runs off the last over, in a thrilling encounter.
Chasing 185, Bangladesh got off to a flyer, with Liton Das taking on the Indian bowling attack. He slammed Arshdeep for three boundaries in the second over of the innings. The Bangladesh opener continued the onslaught, as they quickly raced to 66 runs in seven overs. However, rain interrupted the play and the match was reduced to 16 overs, with 151 as the target.
After the rain break, Bangladesh lost Liton Das to a run-out, and things went downhill from there. Arshdeep Singh picked up a couple of wickets, including Shakib Al Hasan’s to push Bangladesh on the backfoot. Hardik Pandya also pulled off a great performance, taking two wickets. The equation was brought down to 20 runs off the last over, with six wickets down.
Arshdeep Singh conceded seven runs off the first two deliveries and was under pressure. However, he kept his calm, and conceded only seven runs off the next four, to win the match for India. He finished the match with bowling figures of 2/38 in his four overs. This is India’s third win of the 2022 T20 World Cup, in four matches.

In such a short career Arshdeep has already become Rohit's go-to death bowler

This air of confidence which Arshdeep seems to have is quite encouraging.. a young man operating in the cauldron where the odd over and game ur bound to take a bit of tap but just like bhuvi the face shows no concern.. so good to see.. #T20WorldCup2022

What a match. What a bowler, Arshdeep Singh! 4-0-32-3, 4-0-37-2, 4-0-25-2, 4-0-38-2. 9 wickets from 4 games. Dropped Asif Ali in Asia Cup & got a lot of flak, but how well has he redeemed himself in the biggest stage of them all. Champion cricketer!! pic.twitter.com/OPZwLxTtLD

In Arshdeep Singh a star is born but worry for our power play bowling as we enter the crunch stage.. If Litton can do this what will a Butler or Finn Allen.. but for now we have one and a half foot in the semi final door and that’s reason to smile! Cmon India! #T20WorldCup2022

Arshdeep Singh becomes the leading wicket-taker for India at the 2022 T20 World Cup
Arshdeep Singh is the leading wicket-taker for India at the 2022 T20 World Cup so far. He has taken nine wickets in four matches at an average of 14.67, and an economy rate of 8.25. The pacer has proved to be an asset for India in the death overs in the tournament. The fans as well as the experts have been impressed with Arshdeep Singh’s performance against Bangladesh.
Praising the young pacer, Indian skipper Rohit Sharma said at the post-match presentation,
“When he came into the scene [on Arshdeep], we asked him to do that for us. With Bumrah not there, someone has to do it for us, and take the responsibility, for such a young guy to come and do it is not easy. But we prepared him for it. For the last 9 months, he has been doing it. There was a choice between Shami and him but we backed someone who did the job for us previously.”
