Sarfaraz Khan Applauds Brother Musheer Khan’s Gritty Debut Hundred

Musheer Khan, younger sibling of Indian Test cricketer Sarfaraz Khan, made a remarkable debut in the Duleep Trophy with an unbeaten century for India B on September 5. Playing against India A at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, the 19-year-old right-handed batsman scored 105 not out from 227 balls.

He came in at No. 3 for the side captained by Abhimanyu Easwaran and played a crucial role in rescuing India B from a precarious 94 for 7, contributing to a total of 202 runs for the loss of seven wickets in 79 overs on the first day. Musheer formed a vital partnership of 108 runs for the eighth wicket with Navdeep Saini, who is currently batting on 29 from 74 balls. Musheer, who earlier garnered attention for his impressive performance in the U-19 World Cup, reached his century with a single off the final ball of the 74th over bowled by Kuldeep Yadav.

Sarfaraz Khan, watching from the dressing room, led the celebrations by giving his younger brother a standing ovation. The entire India B support staff stood to applaud Musheer’s brilliant century. At just 19, Musheer secured his third first-class century.

Here are some Twitter reactions:

His achievement in scoring a century in his debut Duleep Trophy match was highlighted by India’s T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav, who praised Musheer’s performance on Instagram. Suryakumar, who was absent from the first round of Duleep Trophy matches due to an injury, posted a photo of Musheer celebrating his milestone, with a caption that read, “What a Knock my boy. Duty k baad roz practice, jitna duty utna practice. @sarfarazkhan97 happy elder brother.”

While Musheer’s performance was a highlight of the day, his brother Sarfaraz struggled, scoring only 9 runs from 35 balls before being dismissed by Avesh Khan. Sarfaraz, who made his Test debut against England in Rajkot earlier this year, was dismissed lbw. Other notable Indian Test players such as Yashasvi Jaiswal, Rishabh Pant, and Washington Sundar also had disappointing performances, with scores of 30, 7, and 0 runs, respectively.
