Team India spinner Ravichandran Ashwin was all praise for batter Sarfaraz Khan, who has taken domestic cricket by storm. The Mumbai cricketer has been a prolific run-scorer in the circuit for the last three years. He has been waiting in the wings for his Team India debut, with tons of runs under his belt in domestic cricket.

Sarfaraz Khan has scored 3505 in 37 first-class matches at an average of 79.65. He has slammed nine fifties and thirteen centuries including a triple hundred. The right-handed batter’s stellar record has prompted many fans and experts to call for his inclusion in the Indian team. However, he is yet to receive his maiden call-up. The selectors ignored Sarfaraz Khan for the upcoming Border Gavaskar Trophy.

Speaking on his Youtube channel, Ravichandran Ashwin expressed,

“Where do I begin about this batsman? Sarfaraz Khan. There is so much debate on whether he should get selected or not. But he is not caring about selection, guys. In the 2019-20 season, he scored 900 runs. In the 2020-21 season, another 900 runs.”

“This season, he has scored almost 600 runs. He has made a strong statement with his sheer performances. He is averaging in excess of 100 in the last three seasons at a high strike rate as well. Sarfaraz Khan is not just smashing on the selection doors. He is burning them. But unfortunately, he is not getting selected currently,” he added.

In due course, Sarfaraz Khan will get his due: Sridharan Sharath, BCCI Selector

Team India selector Sirdharan Sharath expressed that Sarfaraz Khan is on the radar for a maiden call-up. He added that the Mumbai batter will get his reward in due course. In six matches in Ranji Trophy 2022-23 season, Sarfaraz Khan scored 556 runs at an average of 72.49, with three centuries and a fifty.

“He is certainly on our radar. In due course, he will get his due. While picking the team, we have to consider things like composition and balance,” Sridharan Sharath said to Sportstar.
