SAvIND: 4 wickets in the last session brings India back into the game

India has done very well on the first day of 2nd test match played at Centurion. Despite good partnerships, the Indian bowlers created pressure and took 4 wickets in the final session. South Africa ended the first day on 269 for 6. Hashim Amla, Makaram played with positive intent but lost wickets in a final session.

South African captain Faf du Plessis won the toss again and elected to bat again. India brought in Ishant Sharma, KL Rahul, and Parthiv Patel into the team. Dean Elgar and Markram started the first session on a good note with 36 runs in the first hour. Elgar struggled while Markram played with positive intent. Markram reached his half-century off 81 balls. South Africa ended the first session on 78 for 0.

India got off to a great start as Ravichandran Ashwin dismissed Dean Elgar with a brilliant catch by Murali Vijay for 31. Hashim Amla struggled with his batting but Markram continued his superb batting. Both batsmen added 63 runs for the 2nd wicket. Ashwin dismissed Markram for 94. South Africa went into the second session at 182 for 2. Amla played with positive intent and showed his class.

The third session saw Hashim Amla reached his half-century off 99 balls. Ishant Sharma took the important wicket of AB de Villiers for 20 as both of them added 51 runs for the third wicket. Hashim Amla was brilliantly run out by Hardik Pandya for 82. Quinton de Kock was dismissed quickly by Ravichandran Ashwin for 0. Vernon Philander was run out for 0. Captain Faf du Plessis and Keshav Maharaj remained not out. South Africa ended the first day on 269 for 6 in 90 overs.

Ravichandran Ashwin took 3 wickets for 90 runs while Ishant Sharma took 1 wicket. The other two wickets were run outs.
