South Africa have strengthened their position on day 4 at Super Sports Park, Centurion just finished a few minutes ago. AB de Villiers and Faf du Plessis played important innings which helped South Africa to give a record chase of 287 to win. India is struggling at 35 for 3.

Starting on the overnight score 90 for 2, both South Africa overnight batsmen AB de Villiers and Dean Elgar played with good intent scoring. Mohammad Shami took 3 wickets in quick succession to bring back India back into the game. AB de Villiers was dismissed for 80 while Dean Elgar was dismissed for 61. Quinton de Kock went also cheaply for 12 runs. At the lunch break, South Africa were 173 for 5.

After the lunch break, captain Faf du Plessis and Vernon Philander played solidly as both of them put on 46 runs for the 6th wicket. Ishant Sharma took 2 quick wickets of Vernon Philander, Keshav Maharaj. Captain Faf du Plessis continued to steady the innings with good technique. South Africa went into the tea break at 230 for 7.

Kagiso Rabada and Faf du Plessis added 30 runs for the 8th wicket. South Africa was bowled out for 258 giving a challenging target of 287 to win. Mohammad Shami was the pick of bowlers with 4 wickets. Chasing 287, Murali Vijay went cheaply after adding 11 runs with KL Rahul. KL Rahul and Captain Virat Kohli also went cheaply. Cheteshwar Pujara and Parthiv Patel ended the 4th day at 35 for 3. India needs another 252 runs to win on the final day.
