SCG crowd allowed to enter celebrate Warner's final Test

The Australian Cricket Team registered an emphatic 8-wicket win on the fourth of the 3rd and final Test match played at Syndey Cricket Ground, SCG on 6th January 2024. It was a great day for the fans as they were allowed to enter the ground to celebrate David Warner’s final test match.

Australian veteran opener David Warner announced his retirement after the final Test match against Pakistan at SCG ground. He received a grand reception from the crowd at SCG with the audience allowed to enter the field to see the post-match presentation. It was a great moment as the family of Warner and other Australian teammates came to hug Warner.

It was a great moment for the Australian team as they registered whitewash Pakistan 3-0. Chasing down 130 runs to win, Warner looked impressive with his attacking shots and put the bowlers under pressure. He was eventually dismissed for 57 off 75 balls via review for LBW. The umpire gave not out but on review, it was given out. The crowd gave a standing ovation after he was dismissed.

Australia won the match by 8 wickets with Labuschagne and Smith at the crease.  “It’s pretty much a dream come true. You win 3-0 and cap off what’s been a great 18 months to 2 years for the Australian cricket team. World Test Championship win, Ashes series draw, and then the World Cup. To come here and finish 3-0 is an outstanding achievement. I’m proud to be with a bunch of great cricketers here,” he said.

David Warner’s Great Test Career

Warner made his test debut against New Zealand at Gabba on 1st December 2011. He played a total of 112 Test matches (205 innings) and scored 8786 runs with 26 centuries and 37 half-centuries. Out of his 26 centuries, 3 have been converted into double centuries.

Warner registered his best score of 335 against Pakistan during a day-night Test match at Adelaide Oval on 30th November 2019. He was named the player of the match and player of the series for his 489 runs in the 2-match Test series against Pakistan.
