Scotland progress into the Super Six stage of ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifier 2018

On day 3 of ICC World Cup 2018 qualifiers group stages, Scotland won their 3rd successive match against Nepal in Group B match today. It was a collective performance by minnows Scotland who has played well so far in ICC World Cup 2018 qualifiers

Scotland won their 3rd successive match in Group stage by beating Nepal in a closely fought match at Queen Sports Club, Bulawayo. In today’s match, Nepal captain Paras Khadka won the toss and elected to bat. However, their first few batsmen did not rise to the occasion due to brilliant bowling display by Scotland bowlers, to dismantle Nepal to 14 for 4 in the first 5 overs.

Paras Khadka played a captains knock scoring 63 runs off 75 balls. Regmi was the second top scorer with 24 runs. Nepal was bowled out for 149 in 47.4 overs. It was a collective effort by Scotland bowlers.

Chasing the target of 150, MH Cross and captain Coetzer started well adding 33 runs for the first wicket. From 71 to 1, Scotland was also reduced to 115 for 5. Coetzer played a captains knock and remained not out on 88 to get Scotland over the line.  Scotland won the match by 4 wickets with 51 balls to spare.  Captain Coetzer was named a man of the match for his knock.

In the first match against Afghanistan, Scotland bowled first and bowled out Afghanistan for 255. In reply, CS MacLeod made a match 157 not out, Barrington 67 helped Scotland win the match by 7 wickets with 16 balls to spare.

Against Hong Kong, Scotland bowlers did a great job to bowl out them for a paltry total of 91. While chasing, captain Coetzer played a captains knock of 41 not out winning the match by 4 wickets. Scotland played in the 2015 World Cup and could not win any match. Scotland will play their last league match against Zimbabwe on 12th March.

Scotland is currently top of Pool B. They have done very well in the tournament so far and hope to continue their winning form in Super Six stage.

In other matches, UAE registered their second win of the tournament beating the Netherlands by 6 wickets. West Indies went past PNG by 6 wickets to make two wins out of two.

West Indies, Ireland, UAE have 4 points each in Group A. In Group B, Zimbabwe, have four points from 2 games, Hong Kong 2 points so far from 2 games.
