Former Kiwi cricketer Scott Styris picked his IPL 2020 XI as the tournament draws to a close. He snubbed Shikhar Dhawan who ended the season with 603 runs from 16 games. He made an interesting choice in his XI, dropping a few players and not including some big names. With various cricket experts choosing their best XI of the season, Styris joined the bandwagon and made some interesting choices. Meanwhile, Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals are playing in the IPL 2020 final in Dubai.

Styris has chosen David Warner and KL Rahul as his openers. Both ended the season as top-scorers of their respective franchises. Styris has left out names like Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan from the opening slot.

His middle order consists of names like Suryakumar Yadav at number three, Virat Kohli at number four, Ishan Kishan at number five and Rahul Tewatia at number six.

Surya (461) Kishan (483) and Kohli (466) are all in the top-run-getters in the tournament. It is also a very flexible middle-order that Styris has selected. All of them have the ability to switch gears and bat according to the situation.

Styris has went in with a five-man pace attack. Yuzvendra Chahal and Rashid Khan are his specialist spinners. Rashid finished the season with 20 wickets and Chahal with 21.

Jasprit Bumrah (27), Kagiso Rabada (29) and Jofra Archer (20) are his three specialist pacers to round off an almost unbeatable side.

While it is a full-strength side, Dhawan’s omission is rather surprising. This was his most productive IPL season. This is the very first season, Shikhar Dhawan went past 600 runs in the IPL. It included four fifties, two back-to-back centuries and a couple of ducks as well.
