The Royals express their thanks to Lasith Malinga for his significant contributions to the franchise during his two-season stint. Rajasthan Royals, owned by Royals Sports Group, has announced that former New Zealand pacer Shane Bond will take on a dual role with the franchise.

He will serve as an Assistant Coach and also become the team’s new fast bowling coach in preparation for the IPL 2024 season. Shane Bond previously worked as the Bowling Coach for New Zealand’s national team from 2012 to 2015, helping them reach the final of the 2015 ICC Cricket World Cup.

He also had a significant impact on the Mumbai franchise in the IPL in 2015, contributing to their success in winning four titles over nine seasons.

With Shane Bond’s guidance, several notable fast bowlers, such as Jasprit Bumrah, Mitchell McClenaghan, and Trent Boult, became T20 specialists. Bond, who is 48 years old, will now be reuniting with some of these bowlers at the Rajasthan Royals.

He will also work on enhancing the skills of the current group of fast bowlers, which includes Prasidh Krishna, Navdeep Saini, Sandeep Sharma, Kuldeep Sen, Obed McCoy, KM Asif, and Kuldip Yadav.

Kumar Sangakkara, the Director of Cricket for Rajasthan Royals, expressed his enthusiasm in welcoming Shane Bond to the team:

“Shane is one of the greatest fast bowlers of modern day cricket, and brings with himself a wealth of experience and knowledge having mentored some of the best in the business.”

”He has served in the IPL and in India for a number of years and is well-versed in the processes involved within the franchise ecosystem.”

“He is someone who has a keen eye for helping the best become even better and we are delighted to welcome him to the franchise, and look forward to seeing the impact he can make towards moulding us into a title-winning team.”

“Meanwhile, Shane Bond expressed his first thoughts after signing with the Royals. “I’m delighted to be joining the Royals. It’s a forward-thinking franchise who are determined to do well and I’m excited about being part of their vision.”

”The bowling group is a great mix of youth and experience, and it will be awesome to work alongside them,” said Bond.

Rajasthan Royals want to thank Lasith Malinga for his great help during his two seasons with the team, and they wish him good luck in whatever he does next.
