Aussie spin legend Shane Warne has backed the Indian team management to try Kuldeep Yadav ahead of the more experienced R Ashwin in the first Day-Night test match in Adelaide. The test match starts from December 17. Warne said that if Ravindra Jadeja is not fit in time for the first test, India should pick Kulddep ahead of Ashwin in the first test. The legendary leg-spinner said that Kuldeep has a better record than Ashwin, and the latter has struggled in Australia conditions.

The last time Kuldeep played a test match in Australia, he took a fifer. Talking to Sports Tak, Warne said that he loves watching Kuldeep bowl and would like to see him bowl alongside Jadeja in the first test.

India Must Pick Kuldeep Yadav: Shane Warne

“India won their first-ever Test series two years ago because of their fast bowlers and how their batsmen face the fast bowlers. So, I don’t think that 4 pace attack will work, I think you need that variety in you attack. I would say Jadeja. Kuldeep Yadav is fantastic. I love watching Kuldeep bowl” said Warne.

Warne said Kulddpe has a better record in Australian than the experienced Ashwin, who apparantly has struggled in Australian conditions.

“The Australia conditions suits Kuldeep Yadav more than Ravichandran Ashwin. Ashwin has really struggled in Australia and have not done well here. Kuldeep Yadav has done really well. In case (injured) Jadeja is out, I will play Kuldeep Yadav. I will have three quicks and a spinner. I will definitely pick Kuldeep ahead of Ashwin,” he added.

He further said that the spinners should make the most of the daylight given the match is a day-night one. He gave the example of Nathan Lyon who changes his pace very well and bowls according to the condition.

“Just because the Pink ball swings and moves, doesn’t mean that spinners can’t play a part. There is 4 hour cricket in day light, only last session is played under lights. Nathan Lyon is successful because he changes his pace really well. Indian spinners, I think, bowl a bit too fast.” Warne concluded saying.
