It was all about Shane Watson on social media yesterday. Chennai Super Kings’ lead spinner Harbhajan Singh posted a story on Instagram which took the cricketing world by storm. He posted a picture where Watson can be spotted playing the game even after a ‘bloodied’ knee in the finals against Mumbai Indians couple of days back.
It is to be noted that Watson’s valiant effort of 80 went in vain as Chennai missed their fourth title by just one run. Though Malinga’s masterclass made the day for Mumbai, fans are now appreciating Watson for playing bold despite a knee injury. In the latest video, Watson can be seen slowly as his knee needed six stitches to be back in senses.
Watson wasn’t able to prove his ability to score runs quickly in most of the games this season. He made sure to make an impact in a few games but not all. He himself had admitted to the fact that he is extremely thankful for the management to keep him in the side even after repeated failures. Several fans are speculating that this effort from Shane Watson is a perfect tribute to repay the faith the entire CSK management has shown in him.
Shane Watson will now take a break from cricket and the Australian has already mentioned that he will not be a part of BBL from now as he needs to spend some time with his family. The cricketing fraternity is currently applauding Watson by all means and he deserves to the belligerence he has showcased on the field.
Indian Premier League has been the platform for Watson right from the scratch when he started his career under Shane Warne in 2008. He represented Royal Challengers Bangalore for a period of two years before Chennai roped him into the side during 2018 season. His knock in 2018 final was widely spoken and it was one of the most prolific comebacks for an IPL side.
