Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Delhi Capitals are likely to release ace all-rounder Shardul Thakur ahead of the next edition of the cash-rich league. Shardul was roped in by the Capitals during the IPL 2022 auction after he was released by the Chennai Super Kings.

With the IPL 2023 auction scheduled to take place in December, the teams will release their list of retained cricketers in three weeks’ time. As per a report by Cricbuzz, the chances of Thakur being released are high, and the other players who may join him in the same are wicketkeeper-batter KS Bharat and batter Mandeep Singh, who were purchased for a bidding price of INR 2 crore and INR 1.10 crore respectively.

Incidentally, Shardul Thakur featured in 14 games and only managed to score 120 runs. Despite taking 15 wickets, the Mumbai all-rounder’s economy rate was close to 10, and his average was 31.5.

KS Bharat was unable to make a place in the starting XI due to the presence of skipper Rishabh Pant, who donned the wicketkeeper’s gloves. Mandeep, on the other hand, may not have done his chances much good with only 18 runs in three games.
