Former Indian cricketer Shikhar Dhawan recently reflected on his experience in Nepal through a heartfelt social media post. Sharing a compilation of moments from his participation in the Nepal Premier League (NPL), Dhawan highlighted his gym and net sessions, interactions with locals, helicopter adventures, and even his dance moves.
He expressed his admiration for Nepal’s majestic beauty and warm-hearted people, stating, “Higher the peaks, the warmer and more grounded the people of Nepal! Fell in love with every part of this beautiful place.” His statement, “Can’t wait to return!” signified his fondness for the country and marked the conclusion of his stint with the Karnali Yaks in the league.
Dhawan’s Performance in the Nepal Premier League
Making his debut in the NPL with the Karnali Yaks, Dhawan had a mixed run in the tournament. His first outing on December 2 in Kirtipur saw him open the batting alongside Dev Khanal, but he managed only 14 runs off 14 balls before being bowled by Harsh Thaker.
In his second match, Dhawan delivered a stellar performance, scoring 72 off 51 balls, including four boundaries and five sixes, against the Kathmandu Gurkhas. Despite his knock pushing Karnali Yaks to 149 runs, the effort went in vain as the opposition chased the target in the final over.
In the following game against the Chitwan Rhinos, Dhawan contributed a solid 45 runs, helping Karnali Yaks secure a six-wicket victory. However, his final innings against the Biratnagar Kings yielded only five runs. Across four innings, Dhawan scored 136 runs at an average of 45.33 and a strike rate of 122.52, showcasing glimpses of his international cricketing prowess.
