Double Setback For Shreyas Iyer

Shreyas Iyer has endured a tough month, falling short in two consecutive T20 finals. He was picked up by Punjab Kings (PBKS) for a whopping ₹26.75 crore in the IPL 2025 mega auction and was also appointed captain of the side. Under his leadership, PBKS had a stellar season, showcasing consistent performances and topping the league stage with nine wins and 19 points from 14 matches.

However, they lost the first qualifier to Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). Although they bounced back by defeating Mumbai Indians (MI) in the eliminator to reach the final, Punjab Kings (PBKS) narrowly lost to RCB by six runs in the title clash. Soon after, Iyer turned out for the SoBo Mumbai Falcons in the T20 Mumbai League.

The team, led by Iyer, finished second in the league stage and beat Namo Bandra Blasters in the semi-final by five wickets. However, their campaign ended in disappointment as they went down to Mumbai South Central Maratha Royals in the final by five wickets, despite a spirited fight and some standout individual performances.
